Sports Authority closing

The Sports Authority in Logan will shut its doors on Dec. 31 due to a steady loss of revenue.
Nate Stokes, a broker for the Cache Valley Plaza where the Sport’s Authority is located said that the corporate owners of the Sports Authority decided to not renew the building’s lease, which is set to expire on Jan. 1, 2016.
One manager at Sports Authority who chose to remain nameless said she believes it’s because of internet shopping.
“People are shopping more and more online,” she said. “It impacts local business and it impacts people I can hire.”
She said that in the past they’ve employed 26 people at a time but that number has dropped to 15.
“When you’re losing anywhere from 3 to 12 percent of your revenue a year over the course of five years, it has a huge effect,” said the manager.
